Rule Changes

Yes, Rule Changes.  While taking a Train Ride recently, I reviewed some of the books given to me by Phil (thanks Phil! +10 credits).  I wasn’t crazy about how the last hour of the last game went, so as I thought about the game, I realized we haven’t been doing that much role-playing, so expect more of that in the future, at least for a good chunk of the next session.  I also have had time to consider the rules and how we’ve been playing with them for a while them, and have acquired a decent handle on these rules.

And so, after some deliberation in my head, I have come with rule changes in relation to the Wild Dye, Force Points, Dark Side Points, Multiple Actions, the new Complete Defense Action, New Skills, HP and Attacking.  Some of these changes are simple, some are new, some are drastic, so feedback and considerations I may have forgotten would most appreciated!  Otherwise, I’ll be implementing these changes as of 3 December, though I do have the right to revoke these changes if I feel they are not going well.  These are BIG changes to the game, so definitely take a look if you have some time!

Recommendation: Darths & Droids

While surfing through the web, I discovered this:

http://www.darthsanddroids.net/

It's a webcomic that decides to take the entire Star Wars Movie and make into a webcomic.  A comic that assumes that the main characters are controlled by PCs (ala role playing gaming) playing in a universe they have no understanding of and winging it.  It's pretty funny, pointing out the flaws in reasoning in both Star Wars and in Role-Playing, so it's very aptly timed (to be found that is).  It even offers advice to future players (and GMs) in its commentary, so if you have time to kill, check it out!  I've only started to read it, but it's good stuff.

Some favorites parts include the creation of lightsabers and how they parry, the various attempts of fast-talking and the fact that the GM is screwed over so often!

Preview: Hutts

Some Random Facts about Hutts, courtesy of the awesome Wookieepedia...
  • Hutts have their own sector of the galaxy that isn't well-ruled by the Republic; many Hutts move away from this sector to establish their own empires;
  • Hutts can come in all colors, besides, Jabba's dark brown/sand color; this includes green, blue, purple and pink.  Just imagine that for a second.
  • Hutts have so much fat and protection that Hutts can use take several shots before being significantly wounded and they can move much faster than their appearance would lead you to believe;
  • Hutts can not be eaten and yes there is no reason why;
  • Hutts cannot be affected by the force and are immune to almost all poisons in the universe;
  • Hutts can see ultra radiation light and no there is no reason why;
  • Hutts can also regenerate any lost body part......
Ok, hold on, WTF!  Why did the creators decide to give the FING Hutts so much $hit!  Come on Star Wars!  What's with you mean!  Clearly one of the writers of the one of the gazillion books wanted to kill a hutt in some absurd way and wrote all these laws of resistence; or kept just bringing him/her back as a recurring villain who should have stayed dead!  Jeez!

Though Beldorian, the only ever Hutt Jedi?  Bada$$.  Oh yeah.....

Biography: Mr. Shadow

Mr. Shadow was born the son of a slave on a legal study ship called the Neverending Hawk.  His father is someone he may or may not have met; he does not know.  His mother was allowed to die by her owners after the birth proved to be too much; or rather, his owner decided the cost of waiting for his mother to have her health was more than the cost of simply stealing/buying a new slave.  Mr. Shadow was never given a name by his master, and was always told to never let any of the clients, or rather the sons and daughters of influential politicians throughout the galaxy, see or hear him.  He was, if he wanted to stay alive, told to always be a shadow, and to never emerge unless requested by his Master.  When the kid asked his Master about the Monsters that lurked in the darkness, the Master merely replied "You fool, you are the shadow!"

The kid became as silent as the shadow for the first few years, cleaning bathrooms, scrubbing doors, taking pictures of female students in an airlock.  The ship had a droid programmed to teach discipline and be a "parent".  There were other kids on the ship, but the idea of becoming friends never even occurred for any of the kids.  It was, at best, a dreary existence, complete with the occasional whippings and starvation periods.  The only hope that these kids had was that the ship was known, after several years of servitude, would be released on a planet. (In Truth only those who had outlived their worthiness or showed signs of trouble were let go, usually on isolated asteroids or most uninhibited moons).  If not for one incident, Mr. Shadow would have surely become part of the shadow of history.

When Mr. Shadow was 10, he overheard a female student wandering about if a crush she had had received her letter.  Going down the hall, he saw the crush waving the letter in front of his friends.  Mr. Shadow then went back to the girl, and told her about his receiving the letter.  He didn't why he did this; he never before had talk to her, or really to any of the students unless they asked him for something.  He just felt like doing this.  And his reward?  Some of the most delicious chicken he had ever laid on his tongue.  It was this critical juncture that Mr. Shadow found his true calling: that of an information dealer.

Starting first with the girl from Naboo who gave the chicken, Mr. Shadow soon became the students' main information source.  Wanted to know if a test was going to be on Friday?  Ask Mr. Shadow.  Wanted to know if that Quareen Lad had just been dumped by the Mon Calamari gal?  Ask Mr. Shadow.  He did this on a side-basis on the ship, still completing his other duties.  He would volunteer to be one of the janitors, in order to allow free travel throughout the ship.  At one point, his Master realized what he was doing and was going to throw off the ship...in the middle of space.  However, the girl from Naboo led the charge, demanding they let him live, the group agreeing that "Mr. Shadow must live!".  When the Master refused, the group promptly took over the ship with, of course, Mr. Shadow's help.  All of the slaves were freed, the former masters sentenced to hard labor, and the ship was given new management.

Mr. Shadow remained on the Neverending Hawk for a few months on the ship, becoming quick friends with the new ownership.  However, when the new management asked him to spy on his friends on the ship, he quickly faked his death, and was left behind on Tatooine.  Despite his young age at this point (around 15) he was able to do various information gathering missions from the crime lords, and soon was a decently wealthy man.  He established one of his soon to be numerous bases throughout the galaxy on Tatooine, and worked on creating a network of contacts, resources essential to his business.

In the 20 or so years since his beginning, Mr. Shadow has become a relied upon source for many of the most powerful voices in the galaxy.  Thanks to the Clone Wars, he also became very wealthy.  Rarely appearing in person nowadays, Mr. Shadow has numerous employees in an established shadow organization.  Hardly anyone knows his true appearance; his cloak emits an ancient aura of shadow.  His base of operations is Tatooine, due to its numerous spaceports, but where he usually lives is unknown.  What is known is that he has at least six mansions and that he hardly lives in any of them.

Mr. Shadow, luckily for the galaxy, is not a vengeful man and he will not abuse or take advantage of any disadvantaged person....unless he is paid to.  He is considered to be one of the most fair dealers around, and even organizations like the Republic and the Black Sun do not mess around his operations.  Mr. Shadow is a very fair man, despite his rough beginnings, though he does sometimes have favorites.  In any case, if one has Mr. Shadow giving information, you know it to be true and you know you are in good hands.  If you see Mr. Shadow with your enemy...watch out!

Religion and Jedis

So when I was re-watching a couple of weeks some of the original trilogy movies, I was struck by how, well, religious it all seemed to be.  Grand Moff Tarkin mentions several times how Vader's ancient religion no longer exists.  In the original trilogy though it is much more Eastern, less organized, more focused on the self, while in the 2nd Trilogy, with  the Jedi Order, constraints of joining, how easy it is to fall into temptation, it is clearly more of Western (Christian) mythology getting involved.  After thinking through (and I hope to write a longer post one day) I tend to think of Jedis as an example of the failure of organized religion, showing inherently why and hoe easy it is to ruin whole societies just by religion, something that history can show.  Jedis then show what happens when religion is used in the lawful and chaotic ways (the good and dark sides).  And really, if one investigates any Jedi stories, they almost always involve a Sith who fell from grace.

So I wandered, what did others think about religion and Star Wars?  Well, let's ask George himself:

NOTE: This is more a a run-on thinking about the concepts mentioned.  You've been warned.

Recap: Mos Eisley

"Mos Eisley spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious." Obi-Wan

You know if Obi-Wan says a place is trouble, then it's trouble.  And yet Commander Savaya seemed to not care...

After escaping from Rodia, the team has a series of meetings; Gorgon is finally able to fix Ulic Qel Droma, but Ulic states that he needs time to adjust to his new purpose and existence.  Pop-Pop and Hakim have become quick friends as well.  The team discussed what happened to them after Rodia, and then Savaya told the team of her plans: she has found that the Queen crashed into Tatooine, and wants to rescue her.  After rescuing the queen, it is Savaya's intention to head to Aldaran, a known anti-Palpatine planet for a month to start a new resistance, a front against the tyranny of the Emperor, to restore the Queen and do all that is right.  Atty, after questioning the plan, agreed, and Gorgon looked forward to the business deals.  Ayla, after talking further with Telos, agrees to the plan for now, wanting to see how Savaya conducts her business.

The team lads at Mos Easley, and after Gorgon bribes the officials, goes, with Savaya, to the iconic Cantina, where apperently the GM was too lazy to add anything new to the Cantina.  A Mr. Shadow, a human wrappe din shadowry robes, told the team that in Bestine, the capital of Tatooine, the Imperial Commander, Barose, had already captured the Queen from her vessel.  Barose though, being a simple way out far commander, does not realize the prey he has...yet.  Barose, in addition, has about 100 or so men (50 storm troopers) in the city, with more to come.  Mr. Shadow and Savaya suggests using the local powerful crime lord's assistance, Jabba the Hutt, to aid them in the rescue attempt.  As the team is about to leave, a small crime boss of the city, Lady Valerian, a Whipsud (sp) enters with her crew: Chewak, a Wookie; Sam the Rodian; Billy and Willy, humans; and a Gamorrean (yeah I forget his name).  T

Mr. Shadow accidentally walks into Valerian, and is rewarded by being pushed into the bar, and then having a grenade thrown on top of his body by Billy.  Billy then, tossing a grenade in his hands, suggested the team pay tribute and leave.  Atty replied by grabbing the grenade out of the air, grabbing Billy and throwing him into the bar, knocking him out; she then, as part of a plan, pledged loyalty to Lady Valerian.  Lady Valerian agreed to take her in, and had Willy blow up his brother Billy.  The group, after Atty inadvertently failed in her questioning, went back to its headquarters, an innocent looking gym, and the teamed followed suit.

Inside the base, Atty had to resist the temptation of Chewak and did so after many amusing poor puns.  Ayla, who came sneaking in, aided Atty in escaping; the two combined to defeat the Gamorrean, the Rodian and the other human, along with a couple of other guards and managed to acquire a substantial armory of rifles, ammo and grenades.  Savaya and Gorgon, meanwhile, were able to blow an additional armory and create rain inside the building, making many of the men retreat to another bar; the rest were taken out.  Lady Valerion in additional was killed in combat, and Savaya suggests using it as a tribute, even getting a taxodermist (where you find one in Tatooine is another mystery) for the head.

In addition, Ayla was bale to find an old, force sensitive Mandalorian guarding a couple of republic solders.  Ayla convinced him easily to join up with the team, and after taking his retirement funds, joined the team. (his name will be the next recap).  Now, with the shopping and EXP complete, the team heads to the Jabba the Hutt's palace...

Preview: Tatooine

Just a run-down of tidbits about the planet...

Tatooine

Population: 200,000
Demographic: 70% Human (Most of whom from immigrants 100 years ago), 5% Jawas, 5% Tuskan Raiders, 20% Aliens
NOTE: Jawas/Tuskan Raiders may have more, but that is the current count.

Suns: Two called......Tatoo 1 and Tatoo 2.  Yeah, Star Wars isn't always original with names.
Moons: None.

Gravity: Same as Our Earth (meaning, normal)
Size of Planet: About Our Earth size (about 6000 miles diameter)

Biggest "Cities" : Bestine ("Capital"), Mos Eisley, Mos Espa
Percentage of desert on planet: 99%
Percentage of water on planet: 1%

Major Import: Everything.
Major Export: Minerals...when they can find them.  Unofficially, crime, smuggling, drugs, etc.
Major Languages: Galatic Basic, Huttese

Basic History: One of the oldest known planets in the galaxy, used to be jungle planet until the atmosphere eventually burned off, leaving an arid land. Tatootine has been discovered, forgotten and rediscovered numerous times in its history.  After mining failed 4000 years ago, for example, the Galaxy simply "forgot" or did not use, Tatooine for almost 3000 years.  A hundred years ago, a colony ship crashed on Tatooine and made a settlement; some other humans followed suit soon after.

Ruling Leader: Nominally the Galatic Republic runs the planet, and has a contingent of regular troops and storm troopers at Bestine (estimated at couple dozen each). that is led by Commander Barose, a Human.  In reality, Jabba the Hutt rules his crime empire from Tatooine and maintains nomial rule and respect from the surrounding towns, including Mos Eisley and Mos Espa.  The two forces have more or less agree to not bother each other, or so it seems.

Knowledge on Jawas: Well-traveled short scavengers who search hundreds of miles of desert for parts to sell to humans.  One of the main natural races, view others with eye towards profit.  Smell incredibly bad, due to belief that bathing is waste of water.  Have strong nightvision, live in clans in their sandcrawlers.  Decent, but not great mechanic people.  Friendly unless realize you not want any machine.  Not deal in information.  Passive but can be useful.

Knowledge on Tuskan Raiders: Tuskan Raiders, or Sand People, are a barbaric, small clan-based society that do not get along with other settlers.  Viewed inhabitants and other places (often having water) as sacred and will fight to death to preserve.  Called Tuskan Raiders after they destroyed Fort Tuskan in a vicious attack that killed thousands and left no survivors.  Make really annoying but known cries. Nomadic, often ride Banthas, no one has ever seen Tuskan Raider beneath their clothes.  Not to be trusted.

If any other information about Tatooine is requested, it may be given.

Recap: Clans, Cooperation and Escape

Episode 3.5, Chapter 2: Rodia - Conclusion

Ayla went to the jungle and competed in the hunt, catching a large Ghest, a fearsome creature.  Returning from her hunt, she met with several of Zedo's (SP) Chatssu clan members, including who hinted he knew that she was a jedi and that she should attend a dinner later that evening.  Meanwhile Gorgon was able to use his abilities to help get some contacts into the Tetsu clan, and became quick friends with the leaders.  And Atty?  Well, she uh, sort of got captured by the Soammei (SP) clan.  The clan treated her with respect, thinking she was a jedi, but Atty refused thier offer, so she was promtly tortured and sent to the arena for execution.  Gorgon and Ayla tried to break Atty out, but failed, due to the paranoid security precautions previously taken.

With some smooth talk, Ayla and Gorgon were able to convince the two clans to help them free Atty and defeat their rival.  This was a spectacular success.  The team then retreated back to their ship, the Big Mac (sp), where they found that Rei had left the group.  Savaya and Telos though told them where they were heading (as part of the plan to get help they had to leave immediately)....to Tattooine.  Why?  That's for next time...

As I don't have the list of names I gave at the spur of the moment (I only prepared the leaders and a couple of others), excuse the lack of NPC names.  These may be added on later.  While the description seems brief, we did end early, and a lot of the session was talking dominated, thus less recap needed (for this time anyways).

Storm Trooper Trivia

Not that your characters would know this but (sort of)....

So as we know from episode 2, the one where Yoda jumps around crazy style in CGI aganist Count Dooku, that the first storm troopers were clones of Jango Fett (the father of Boba Fett). Jango was apparently the best Bounty Hunter around in the galaxy at the time, so all the clones inherently have his potential to be awesome. From the results of the Clone Wars and Order 66, we're able to tell that the clones are in fact, pretty solid. So why are the Storm Troopers so, you know, storm trooper like in episodes 4 through 6, or about 20 years time? How could a force that was a reason for success become, it seems, a reason for failure?

Well, turns out the Jango Fett clones were really expensive. Really pricy stuff. So the Republic decided, let's take them to some cheaper contractor....no really, they did. As you would expect, while they were cheaper and could make more, these clones used lesser members of society for the clones and thus had some inherent defects. (Production for these clones start to occur a few months before this game began and are starting to be the majority). In addition, top ranked humans are allowed to join the Storm Troopers as well. However, in combat, the Jango feet clones continue to be superior to other storm troopers...and thus there are frictions among the various groups. It is unknown to this writer currently if the public is aware of these divisions; very likely it is known in the underworld/learned elites but not by the general public.

Storm Troopers, after the clones, can be male or female, by the way, though many more guys join the Republic. Under Palpatine, no draft has been needed, FYI.

But perhaps the most interesting thing (to me) is that the Jango Fett Clones KNOW they are Jango Fett Clones, and are perfectly fine with it. Interesting look on Identity and Clones in the Star Wars Universe...where as so many Sci-FI universes and stories are filled with this sort of conflict between perceived and real realities, and how much they really matter, Star Wars just goes "Meh" and continues with its stories...for me anyways, this lack of significant conflict/review/time spent on this issue is rather different.

Absurd Star Wars Merchandise

Yeah, why not? These are not likely the worse offenders, just stuff I found surfing around one site and either said to myself "UGH/WTF/WHY" to "WTH......but sort of cool". Anyways...

First off, a Princess Slave Leia Costume. Not too bad, except....

Biography: Hakim

Hakim Hasalah was born on the Moon Rori of Naboo, in the only city of Rori, Narmale. Narmalens are essentially Nubians (people of Naboo) with the exception that they usually have odd accents and are sometimes treated as second class citizens. The only city, Narmale, named after its founder 2000 years ago, has only a couple of hundred thousand, almost all of which are advanced miners. Hakim was an orphan, his parents killed in an land speeder accident. Born 22 years ago, Hakim has no dealt with too much adversity; the orphanage raised him well, he became proficient with machines quite early on, a trait encouraged by his teachers and handlers, and he gets along decently with people, though he's never been the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to talking.

Narmale is a bit of wicked version of Basic, in that, while it is the same, lots of shortcuts to the language can be taken with no penalty, thus making it harder for non-Narmale natives to understand. Naboo keeps a low eye on Narmale, thus there is no real direct oversight over the colony. Hakim had a few close friends on the planet, but it was not as if anyone has ever said "That man is going to important one day" or that sort.

Hakim, not interested in the mining industry that he felt killed his parents, migrated to Naboo when he was 18. Hakim was good at machines, but had not gone to any specific school; the only schools on Narmale are general and Mining. Hakim thus had a tough time finding a job, not having a formal education or accent. Even being in Tweed, the most liberal of Naboo cities with its varied aliens, was forgiving. Many a day Hakim slept in cafes, train stations and other such places. Hakim believed at the time that by grinning through it, making a couple of jokes and more practice would eventually solve the issue.

Hakim, after a few months of such adversity, was close to giving up; the orphanage, a small business in reality, offered him a janitor type position that would at least pay him. As he walked the streets, deciding what to do, he came across a land speeder that was acting up. And by acting up, I mean, it was sort of driving through a main market with no driver due to an hacking/assassination attempt (that last part only found out later). Hakim, in his first and likely only real brave and physical action, jumped onto the land speeder car , destroyed the virus and hacked into the controls to set it on land. This all resulted in him.....going to jail. After all, he drove it!

Despite camerawork showing that he had only stopped it, authorities needed someone to pin the blame while they looked for the real criminal, so Hakim was screwed. His stay in jail was not very comfortable for the first week or so....until he volunteer to help repair one of the security droids that broke. He soon became a reliable handyman prisoner for the police force at Tweed, and after he was let go after a couple of months, was offered a job there, which he accepted.

Life there was pretty good too, as he made quick friends with many of the officers....until, due to the Clone Wars and the Queen's fear of the aftermath, spending for the military needed to increase at the expense of other departments, which included Hakim's entire base. Luckily for Hakim though, his supervisor gave him a solid review, and he was hired as a repairman for the military. After fixing, without being given permission, many of the officers various devices on a non-busy day, he gathered the attention of Telos, who put Hakim under his direction. Hakim and Telos thus have become decent friends.

Hakim, with his short beard and mustache, looks slightly older than he is, though his clothes, despite being clean, almost have a stain on them. An upbeat man, his interests outside of ships and repairing include movies, sports and writing poetry, though his poetry is legendary. And not for the good reason.

Hakim shows promise in his repairing and ship skills, as his full potential has yet to be unleashed. While a positive looking man, he can, at times, be perhaps a bit too cowardly for the team's good, though this is only because he knows that he is not a fighter. Hakim should prove to be an asset for the team, and is unlikely to do anything foolish anytime soon. But can he truly be trusted...that's the question that Hakim must answer.

Recap

Episode 3.5, Chapter 2: Rodia

After escaping from the ashes of warfare from Naboo, the team had a discussion of what to do next. Commander Savaya, still a prisoner, stated that information was key to the next step and that the team, instead of meandering in space, should go to a planet with cities, where the holonet news could be acquired. She said this while being tied up. Rei Silvia, the Cathar Jedi, stated that Rodias was a solid choice, as she knew people here (Savaya also knows people here as well) and that it would serve well as a hiding spot. The team agreed, and soon after Savaya was let go and started to take command of the ship. Rei promptly stayed in her room, not interacting with anyone, and when the team eventually arrived on the planet, left the ship to do her own thing.

The team attempted to interrogate Lt. Victor Farsius, but merely found that he was a loyal soldier and told the team about his life (it can be found in his bio post). After this, the team found there was an unexpected intruder in the ship, a Gongan child named Pop-Pop who appreciates Gorgon's Iron Chef Cooking.

After arriving, the team was ordered by Savaya to acquire the funds needed to acquire fuel; Telos and Hakim to guard the ship; and herself and Rei to acquire Intel. The team, after wandering in the domed city (that is surrounded by jungle), found out about the War Games, a once in a year event that holds numerous contests. Ayla joined in the Hunt for the LArgest Creature Fight, Atty competed in a couple of contests (and won the climbing) and Gorgon acquired much information about the world.

Specifically, there are three factions, clans, vying for the position of Grand Protector, one that has been fought for over 80 years in a off-on civil war. Each of these clans are trying to do their best....and Atty has just been captured by the most vicious of the three....or has she?

Biography Series: Lt. Victor Farsius

Lt. Victor Farsius, a black hair, blue eyed in shape human, is from the core rim planet of Chandrila, a beautiful, rich and popular Core World. Second Son of a Politician Family who owned a large trading corporation, born 30 years ago. Graduating with high marks from Chandrila University, Victor, with his acquisition degree, was well-position to continue supporting the family owned spice company, McFarsius (the family dropped the Mc after they realized it was rather silly). However, as Victor was celebrating on a nearby moon after graduation, he and his friends accidentally ran into some rather violent protesters, angry about a potential tax increase to their way of living. Victor and his group were unable to calm the group down, which resulted the mob (which outnumbered Victor and his nine friends about 25 to 1) beginning to assault Victor. Victor and many of his friends would come out from this encounters with scars, both mental and physical; however this would be a pretty good outcome.

Just as the beatings were about to get worse, a single Republic Soldier, out of his daily smoke break, noticed the beating and ordered the group to leave. The mob, looking for an excuse, left Victor and friends alone, proceeded to grab the poor solider, hang him on a tree and proceeded to treat his poor body as a pinata until all the candy had fallen out. Victor had tried to get the local police but had no luck; they supported the protesters. Victor then tried the small base guarding a mine, which sent soldiers obviously too late. (eventually, after Victor left, the situation at the moon became so bad that Jedi had to get involved.)

Victor came out of this experience with two things: one, that he was forever thankful for living; and two, that a strong galactic powerful government was needed, as smaller governments had failed to their job to uphold the law. This was a turning point, and Victor tried helping and running for some positions in government; but without a degree or experience, not many would help him. In addition, Victor was not at the time a talented talker.

Thus 6 years ago, or 4 years after the attack, he joined the Galactic Republic's Officer School , hoping to use military experience as a way to help the galaxy while helping his own resume. He scored good marks on the tests, and with his background he was put into....Acquisitions. However, he quickly the officer in charge of a roving supply ship, thus making many relationships, including Gorgon. He continued in this role for a couple of years, including the first year of the Clone Wars. However, due to the numerous battles, after a few months, his ship became a medical transport ship. Seeing the bodies of his fellow soldiers convinced Victor to become a Tie-Fighter pilot, a position left for the best of Storm Troopers usually.

Victor though had done much piloting in his ship, was in good shape for having to carry most of the supplies, was well familiar with the bureaucracy (he was a part of it after all) and knew, due to his dealings, how to interact with the people he needed to contact, and thus by the last couple of months of the Clone Wars he became a full pledged Tie-Fighter. He served well in his fights, but particularly well in the Battle of Kashyakk. It was here he served with much distinction, shooting down three enemy cruisers and six pilots. This impressed Commander Vicious, who upon helping win the fight became a Lt. Moff, appointed Lt. Victor Farsius with current position as a Captain of Tie Fighters. Victor also still helps in the meantime with acquiring needed supplies for the numerous units as well. He had served under Lt. Vicious for a few months, but then took a leave of absence for a year to pursue a political career.

This move flopped, as his planet had grown deeply against the new Republic, and viewed the Storm Troopers in particular with apprehension. Despite having numerous contacts throughout the galaxy who could fund his run, all his opponent had to do was remind people he had fought in the Clone Wars, and he would lose any election. Victor was disappointed, but more so with his family, who had practically denounced him and had to be persuaded to let him stay. It is unknown what Lt. Farsius did, but he did leave his home planet with a vengeful grin, and reported back to Vicious. He was in this position for about a month or two, when this mission to Naboo occurred....

Lt. Victor Farsius is known my work colleagues to be a mostly serious and busy, not often relaxing; he used to be seen reading Political Treatises and preparing political documents in his off-time but has not done this of late. He is known by many to be a reliable and fair man, and to traders as a usually tough negotiator. He is well-known for believing in the Republic and for also trying to do the right thing; this means he can be unpopular.

A talented man in a needed age but who knows what fate will behold on him...

(NOTE: Despite this publishing, your characters would not know most of this....except maybe for Gorgon and even him probably just some of the more recent events).
(Double Note: Hopefully you all enjoyed this first of potentially multiple parts to this Biography Line. Let me know if there is anyone you want to see! Or tell me what you would like to see written.)

Hey all,

This "blog" will be an a way for me to recap sessions, get feedback, and generally have a point of discussion. This is the first time I've attempted something like this so we'll see how it goes.

I'll also try to occasionally put posts about aspects of the game and the Star Wars Universe that wouldn't make sense to cover while roleplaying/killing. If you have any suggestions, feel free to tell me via email, facebook, comment, etc. It's really a way for me to try and force myself to expend upon what I'm creating and help me help you give the best session possible. anyways, hope you all enjoy this little experiment.

Michael

The First Recap

Last time on Episode 3.5 Renaissance, Chapter 1: Naboo....

A group of Jedi (including Sarah's Ewok Ayla and her master Slados) are hiding on Tweed, capital of Naboo; Phil's character (A multi-arm Basilisk named Gorgon) is a new merchant that specializes in repairs/merchant stuff while Katya character's, A wookie merc named Atty, are also in town. Ayla is sent to meet with a contact (not important) setting up the storyline of essentially, the Galatic Republic has discovered about the Jedis there and plan to attack and that there is a legendary Sith Treasure on the nearby Maze of Lor (on Planet of Lor) that could help defend the planet. Ayla was then told as the 2nd part of her instructions to go the Black Squirrel (hosted by Poppin) to find some comrades. Meanwhile, while Ayla was killing time she helped Poppin hang out at the bar, and Gorgon helped repair a droid for the ambassador for the Gungans, meeting with soon to be assistant ally/engineer Indian Accented....crap I forget his name. Anyways, the three meet up cliche style at the bar, and Ayla decides to make the three meet with Slados, a Master of using the Force to Hide. Slados agrees to having the duo join on the journey. Gorgon also previously met Captain Telos, the number 2 to the commander of the mission, Commander Savaya, a loyal Naboo supporter.

The three go on the Jar Jar Binks (spaceship), and travel to Lor, along with Telos, Savaya, the immigrant engineer, red shirts and go through the maze as a team of three PCs and Telos, who got through wacky hijinks, until encountering a hologram (at the center of the Maze of Lor, (which changes after every time) the apprentice of Exar Kun, Ulic Qel-Droma, who notifies the team that the Silver Globe is a modified weapon of destruction that is destroys the souls of non-strong force adults (Golden Globe being Exar Kun's weapon to kill Force-strong kids). Ayla convinces the team, after much discussion and fighting of Battle Hydra (a two headed dragon essentially), to take it back to her Master Slados for further discussion. Gorgon is able to take the hologram of Ulic before it is destroyed, and spends some time in fixing him, though it is still not completely fixed at this point.

As the group takes the Solver Globe, a Sith weapon developed 4000 years ago and then sealed by Ulic for being too strong, the team try to escape but is the Republic, with a Star Destroyer, is there for ambush. The team is sent as decoys, and while Savaya escapes with the weapon, the team is captured. The team then breaks out of jail, although this is due to the politic manipulation of Vice Moff Argas Vicious, who kills Moff So Hai and puts the blame of the group, but allows them to escape. The team takes their decoy ship again, the BALL (heh), capture Lt. Victor Farsius, a C Tie Fighter Captain and apparent old friend of Gorgon.

The team crash onto Naboo and begins to sneak into the Capital Palace. The team runs into the ambassdor of the Gorgons escaping with other political leaders, but the ambassador, liking Gorgon, tells him of an escape vessel (this happens in a sewer). They then arrive at the place and it is here they find Jedi Rei Silva (Cathar) fighting for her life; Sathar, a Mon Calamari apprentice, dead; Slados injured; and Osthar (name check?) helping Savaya and the Queen activating the weapon by sending it to a ship into space with it. the team has numerous fights with both Stormtroopers and Naboo Guards, before finally getting to where the spaceship with the Silver Globe was. The team is able to stop the Silver Globe from being loaded to the ship, but to deactive it, Slados must sacrifice his life (Jedi 4000 years ago were pretty hard core apparently) and does so. The Queen escapes, and with stromtroopers, led by Moff Vicious, taking control, the team escapes, though not before taking Savaya (via KO), Victor Farsius and Rei Silva with them, along with Telos, the immigrant engineer, Gorgon's Droid (an R2 unit). The traitor Jedi is killed, FYI. The team, taking the Gorgon unusual ship (to be decided), go into hyperspace easily, but not find themselves with many, many questions to many many problems....

The current crew of the yet unnamed ship:

Ayla
Atty
Gorgon
Captain Telos
Commander Savaya (prisoner)
Rei Silvia, Cathar Jedi
Hakim
Gorgon's R2 Unit (Name?)
Lt. Victor Farsius (prisoner)
Uncompleted hologram of Ulic Qel-Droma

The ship identifies that there are 9 lifeforms on the ship currently. This does not include holograms or droids.
