Just a run-down of tidbits about the planet...

Tatooine

Population: 200,000
Demographic: 70% Human (Most of whom from immigrants 100 years ago), 5% Jawas, 5% Tuskan Raiders, 20% Aliens
NOTE: Jawas/Tuskan Raiders may have more, but that is the current count.

Suns: Two called......Tatoo 1 and Tatoo 2.  Yeah, Star Wars isn't always original with names.
Moons: None.

Gravity: Same as Our Earth (meaning, normal)
Size of Planet: About Our Earth size (about 6000 miles diameter)

Biggest "Cities" : Bestine ("Capital"), Mos Eisley, Mos Espa
Percentage of desert on planet: 99%
Percentage of water on planet: 1%

Major Import: Everything.
Major Export: Minerals...when they can find them.  Unofficially, crime, smuggling, drugs, etc.
Major Languages: Galatic Basic, Huttese

Basic History: One of the oldest known planets in the galaxy, used to be jungle planet until the atmosphere eventually burned off, leaving an arid land. Tatootine has been discovered, forgotten and rediscovered numerous times in its history.  After mining failed 4000 years ago, for example, the Galaxy simply "forgot" or did not use, Tatooine for almost 3000 years.  A hundred years ago, a colony ship crashed on Tatooine and made a settlement; some other humans followed suit soon after.

Ruling Leader: Nominally the Galatic Republic runs the planet, and has a contingent of regular troops and storm troopers at Bestine (estimated at couple dozen each). that is led by Commander Barose, a Human.  In reality, Jabba the Hutt rules his crime empire from Tatooine and maintains nomial rule and respect from the surrounding towns, including Mos Eisley and Mos Espa.  The two forces have more or less agree to not bother each other, or so it seems.

Knowledge on Jawas: Well-traveled short scavengers who search hundreds of miles of desert for parts to sell to humans.  One of the main natural races, view others with eye towards profit.  Smell incredibly bad, due to belief that bathing is waste of water.  Have strong nightvision, live in clans in their sandcrawlers.  Decent, but not great mechanic people.  Friendly unless realize you not want any machine.  Not deal in information.  Passive but can be useful.

Knowledge on Tuskan Raiders: Tuskan Raiders, or Sand People, are a barbaric, small clan-based society that do not get along with other settlers.  Viewed inhabitants and other places (often having water) as sacred and will fight to death to preserve.  Called Tuskan Raiders after they destroyed Fort Tuskan in a vicious attack that killed thousands and left no survivors.  Make really annoying but known cries. Nomadic, often ride Banthas, no one has ever seen Tuskan Raider beneath their clothes.  Not to be trusted.
